Stayplus Bakery: Taiyaki

Just finished lunch at Sai Kung but when you know you’re going to be walking some “distances” (maybe a mile next to the pier), you will want to be holding a snack in your hand, so I jumped at the chance when I saw this little bakery. There was a line when I arrived, so I guess it’s a pretty popular little shop. You needn’t worry though, because this shop was probably made knowing that they would attract a crowd with its machine here that can make taiyaki non stop in little time

The shop is named for its taiyaki, which is a Japanese snack filled with red beans traditionally, but they have become increasingly popular in Taiwan when filled with different flavours of custard or made with tapioca so they’re really chewy.

The shop sells 6 different types of waffles, one being the tapioca waffles which I can only imagine would be amazing. However, there are no flavour variations for the main character of this shop, which is the taiyaki, mainly because the machine can only do one filling. I ordered 4 taiyaki at $20, which is a reasonable price although slightly sitting on the expensive side.
